The Lyricism of Literati Painting and Modernistic Analysis Experiment

Considering her work begins from traditional literati painting. Her recent work adheres to these basic structure. Her trials are probably a conclusion of her series of experiments currently in progress. As mentioned before, Soomook stands in the sensitive interface between tradition and modern value. Lots of experiments, so called 'modernization of tradition' or 'modernistic analysis of tradition', represent a concern about in accommodating different values in contemporary time and space. An artist's work can be seen in the same category. Through the modernistic analysis on the understanding of Soomook and formative sense obtained by practicing literati painting over a long period of time, an artist's will of expressing her own peculiar characteristic is clear. Problem is the methodology of how to practice. Once she selects which material to borrow in the sense of contents and virtuality, it's not clear that her will be represented fully and effectively. An artist's experiments and seeking pursue the change through a kind of compromise and fusion. This guarantees stable and progressive change but relatively it's difficult to expect revolution of innovation. If she accepts the recognition that tradition always keeps and changes pace with the times, and if she takes note of modern times value, the width of change will be expanded more and the contents will be more diverse. Thinking of her abundant learning on tradition and her active will on accepting the modernistic value, I believe that her unerupted remained passion was hidden in the canvas. I look forward to her next work to be her outpour and eruption.
