Sebastiano Sessa Text

Sebastiano Dammone Sessa born in 1981 in Montreux (Switzerland), the city where he spent the first seventeen years of his life before moving to Cenadi in the province of Catanzaro, birthplace of his mother.
After high school, he attended the first Chair of the School of Decoration at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Catanzaro.

These are years of intense training in which he begins to sharpen their analytical skills that allow a problematic approach to art issues, which approaches with method and rigor.

This wealth of experience, fed by an insatiable curiosity about the materials and their infinite combinations, it starts the testing of visual languages and the development of a path of inquiry focused on fon¬damentali concepts of overlapping and layering. Concepts that play a significant role in his research because the supply route, in fact, the indispensable starting opportunity for reflection, careful and essential, on del¬la light and color, without any reference to the objective dimension of reality.

Recent works, in the wake of formal coherence that distinguishes it, oscillate between painting and sculpture, showing a seemingly random texture of signs where the nail inserts are the natural consequence of the Notes series, are formal symphonies that hold within itself the power of color and the plastic essence of the sculpture.

He has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions, and has been invited to national and international exhibitions. Among the various awards, national and international, in which his work, won the Special Prize at the Culturalia Talent Prize 2015, the XXVI Pandosia Prize for Contemporary Art in 2012, the National Prize of the Arts section has been selected Decoration in 2007 and was a finalist in numerous others.
Currently he is the decoration at the Academy of Fine Arts in Macerata, the city where he lives and works.
